3 MORE Books That Will Change Your Life and How You View the World
➕ how to tactically choose your next read
Before you dive into today’s post, I want to invite you to join my new Facebook group ‘The Profitable Entrepreneur Dad.’ The question the group is built to answer is how do entrepreneur dads become the total man? How do they build a business, body, marriage and life that all work at the absolute highest level without burning out, breaking down or getting bored?
I’ve already uploaded a few helpful resources into the group to get you started. The first is my Game of Production video training. The second is my Focus Finder Cheatsheet to help you receive instant clarity on what areas of your business and life need improvement right now. And soon, I’ll have a profitable entrepreneur dad recommended reading list uploaded as well…

I always find it interesting how much people value a list of book recommendations.
After last week’s post, I received numerous emails and texts asking:
If there are other books I really like and can recommend
Which of the 3 books I’d recommend reading first
To the first point - the answer is obviously yes 🤣. I read all the time and have done so since graduating college.
It’s funny because, throughout high school and college, I honestly did not enjoy reading at all. It felt like a chore I had to do as opposed to an activity I got to do.
And that’s because in school I was force-fed books to read regardless of my interest level…
I imagine many people, maybe even you, had a similar experience.
To the second point - the answer depends on what YOU are most interested in right now.
Or stay it another way - what area of your life feels like it needs the most help??
Because if you look back at my list from last week you’ll note the books fall into 4 categories:
Zebras is largely about stress and health
The Almanack of Naval is really a philosophy book with sound principles around wealth and happiness
The Incerto Series by Nassim Taleb is a mind expander to get you thinking about risk, uncertainty, and fragility in a different way
The Simple Path to Wealth is a book on personal finance
So, if my biggest need right now was building out personal finance systems to reach financial independence sooner, then I’d choose to read The Simple Path to Wealth.
This point brings up a larger issue - most of you are reading randomly instead of tactically.
Normally, I have 2 books going…
One is solving a specific problem area in my life (normally focused on business). I’ll sit down, look at the attraction, conversion, delivery, and scale systems in my business, and then decide which needs the most attention right now. Based on that, I will choose a book (or course or seminar) that attacks that specific problem.
You can do a similar thing for any area of your life - health, wealth, relationships, spirituality, mindset, productivity, etc.
This is the first thing I focus on reading each day because it’s tactical and targeted. It’s focused on solving a specific challenge so I can continue to grow and move forward.
The second book I have going is purely for enjoyment. I’m reading it for no other reason than I find it interesting. This is usually a science book, history book, biography, and/or fiction book…
You can think of Book 1 like being a sniper - you are taking time to choose a specific book, to hit a specific target, to move a specific thing forward.
You can think of Book 2 more along the lines of accuracy by volume - you aren’t looking for anything in particular so who knows what you’ll find.
With that little rant out of the way, let’s get to 3 more books I think are well worth your time…
[Relationship] The 5 Love Languages - link
A good book for any couple out there looking to elevate the intimacy, trust, and love in their relationship
You’ll discover your own love language, and your partners, so you can better love each other how you desire to be loved.
For example, I’m a BIG quality time guy while my wife really values words of affirmation.
Knowing this changes how we show up for each other.
[Business] Ready, Fire, Aim - link
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book because I felt the title of “zero to $100 million in no time flat” was a bit grand…
But I have to say that this is one of my absolute favorite business books.
Michael Masterson does an excellent job breaking a business down into different growth stages and then highlighting, based on which stage you’re in, your biggest problems, challenges, and opportunities.
From my experience thus far, I’ve found his diagnosis and recommendations to be 100% on point.
[Science] Power, Sex and Suicide - link
Perhaps one of the greatest book titles ever.
I mean…how can you read that title and NOT want to buy this book?
But all kidding aside - Nick Lane is one of my favorite science writers and this book is truly fantastic.
It’s actually on my re-read list because I think it’s incredibly relevant to the current cultural animosity towards sex (male and female) and the push, by some, to create a sexless society.1
Sex has been around for a VERY long time.
Well before humans popped into existence.
And it will be around far after we are gone.
Nature, for some odd reason, landed on 2 sexes instead of 1, or 3, or 7 or 10…
This book will give you answers as to why.
That I wholeheartedly disagree with
